Abstract:The permeability coefficient of pebble and gravel in the first terrace of the Yellow River in Lanzhou are 34.19m/d,32.68m/d and 26.50m/d, respectively, tested by pumping, injection in borehole and single ring water injection test. According toparticle analysis, the pebble and gravel formed skeleton of large pores, and the less fine sand are difficult to filling the much morelarge pores, which only to reduce the seepage paths. In this way, the permeability coefficient of porous medium is larger than thefine sand, but less than the pebble and gravel without or only contained very small amount of fine sand. Through the contrastiveanalysis, the predicted value of permeability coefficient by grain-size distribution appeared great discrepancy and variability, whichshould be argumented on design parameters of engineering construction. Base on hydrogeological test results, engineering practicesand regional empirical value, the permeability coefficient of pebble and gravel in the Yellow River terrace of Lanzhou wassuggested taking 34.19m/d.
