Wetland is an important ecosystem on the earth,which is the transition zone from terrestrial ecosystem to aquatic ecosystem.Recently,wetland research and protection have become a topic of general interest in the world because of its great environmental function and benefits.As the most important process in wetland,hydrology is the crucial factor for determining the production,process and maintenance of the representative type of the wetland.Therefore,the research on wetland hydrology is the kernel part of wetland research.This paper gives a brief introduction to wetland hydrology and hydrological function on wetland and ecosystem,describes the development of wetland research,such as the relationship between wetland hydrologic state and ecological environment,flow movement,hydrologic models and hydrologic observation, at home and abroad.Otherwise,this paper also puts forward the prior fields of the future research on wetland hydrology in China.
