Abstract:A distributed hydrologic conceptual model based on the Xinanjiang Model is proposed in this paper. The Dongwan Watershed, a sub-basin of the Yihe River was selected as case study. Three different automatic calibration strategies, which are lumped, semi-lumped, and semi-distributed strategies, are applied for model calibration and runoff simulation. Comparing with the traditional lumped hydrological models, the results show that the distributed model is litter better than the lumped. The semi-distributed strategy is better than the others because of considering the varying the parameters between sub-basins. Since moving from lumped to semi-distributed model creates more complexity in modeling and the calibration procedure, however, more uncertainty increase in the results. Therefore, further study is necessary in order to improve the performance of the distributed hydrologic conceptual model.
