Through establishing the flood simulation model,this paper pointed out that the pondage action of the Poyang Lake on the flood in Yangtze River was limited.Based on the analysis of the pondage action by increasing the lake area,the paper suggested that the Poyang Lake should be controlled to adjust the flood in order to reduce the loss in the middle and down stream of the Yangtze River.
