Abstract:Dongting Lake is located in the south of Jingjiang River in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and downstream of hydrologic control stations in Xiangjiang, Zijiang, Yuanjiang and Lishui Rivers, covering the wide alluvial plain and river-plus-lake network region. In this area, there are 2 691 km2 of natural lakes, 1 481 km2 of flood channels. Due to the sediment accumulation and the effect of human activities, the hydrological regime in Dongting Lake area has changed. The hydrological regime change law is proposed by the analysis of discharge-stage relations of main hydrologic stations in Dongting Lake area in this paper.
