Hydrological network is the important basis of hydrology activity. This paper introduces the basic concept of the hydrological gauges and the hydrological network. It reviews the process of construction and development for the hydrological network in different period and evaluates the actuality and issue of the hydrological network according to the demand for the development of economy and society as well as looks forward to its prospect.
