The comparison of additional hydrology and modern hydrology is carried out from the multiple points of basic definition,studied object,field and studying method,aim as well as data collection,services.The characteristics and differences in between are analyzed.It is discussed that the change from additional hydrology to modern hydrolo-gy is the certain demand of modern water conservancy.Space data collection technology is the most important tool for realizing the change.
